I adore the blur around her edges...and the general composition of the piece. it goes very well with the original concept of the image-
The only thing that looks somewhat odd is the bottom of her dress, where it fades into black - I like the idea of fading, but it's a bit harsh in comparison with the rest of the picture. If you could maybe smooth out the transition just a tiny bit... maybe not.
in any case, it's wonderful.

Yeah, I may play with this alot more and go a little crazier with it. Haven't decided if I like it enough to spend the time. (I was satisfied with the sketch! :giggle: )

Wow. I  the composition of this because it makes the violinist look like she's invoking the devil with her music (because of the flame behind her). It's just such a nifty concept. :D

I even thought in someways it was like a version of the Red Shoes...if you know the ballet. The wearer of the Red Shoes dances and dances and can not stop for the shoes are possessed of it. Same here. She lusted for this violin and now, having it, she finds that it's passion is even stronger than her own and she cannot stop playing even if she tried.

oh kahl... you did so well on this piece... i love the concept... i love the contrast between the reduced colors and the plain b/w painting... i actually love the drawing itself, cause it shows a lot of emotion (like the eyes of the violinist... she seems to be totaly concentrated)... i love the shadow, which looks like a path toward her... allthough it is a clear +fav for me may i offer some minor critic... mmmh... ok the bg looks a bit pixelated, maybe you have overdone the "mask unsharp" function in photoshop... then again on the left bottom her hair and the right elbow is kinda blurry, while the other parts of the drawing are so sharp (which i find looks absolut gross when you have paintings in such a contrast)... ok one last thing... why did you blend out the drawing at the bottom...? i think it will look absoultly fantastic if the b/w painting goes over the edge with out fading away... maybe even on the sides... like "to go beyond the scope", you know... omg i didnīt want to bother you with all that crap... mmh just shows how much this artwork has touched me inside...

lol... yep i see... haha i read through my comment again... do this, do that, but donīt touch this... and you go like... oh ok i was kinda trying... now i understand what you really mean by "concept piece"... i like the way your totaly cool with your work... to be relaxed with the own work... knowing that you could do better without feeling the urge to... play around with stuff, be creative, but do never listen to some morons (me), that kepp telling you what you should do... haha coming out of the darkness, eh? sounds creepy...lol

There's a dark side to each and every human soul. We wish we were Obi-Wan Kenobi, and for the most part we are, but there's a little Darth Vadar in all of us. Thing is, this ain't no either or proposition. We're talking about dialectics, the good and the bad merging into us. You can run but you can't hide. My experience? Face the darkness, stare it down. Own it. As brother Nietzsche said, being human is a complicated gig. Give that old dark night of the soul a hug! Howl the eternal yes!

::laughs:: NO! The comments are great! Like I said, this was mostly a concept piece for me, playing around with stuff I'd never really tried to do before. The background has a film grain filter on it and a cloud filter to help the flame look. The blurriness was my experimenting witht he motion effects...the blurring is meant to make her look like she is moving very fast - I wasn't sure I liked it, but had saved it that was and was too lazy to go back and do all the work to fix it. And Honestly...I didn't know what the hell to do with her dress!! In the original sketch the lines just extend then disappear....but now she had volume to her so I couldn't just do that so I guess...I guess I tried to make it look like she was coming out of the darkness?? ::laughs:: I'm not even sure!! :P
